New cover!

I wasn't crazy about the first cover they sent me for Small, Medium, and Large, but this one, I love. I finally got my wish for a cover with the adorable Jimmy Thomas. I am in HEAVEN!!!!

Final edits are done and sent, and it's now available for preorder from Siren! The release date is still April 9th, and it should be on Amazon in a few weeks. This is a fun story and scorching hot! I hope you all enjoy it. I certainly had fun writing it. Hell, I even got a kick out of doing the edits, which is a highly unusual event!

Here's another pic of Jimmy. He's such a hottie!

Thursday Thoughts

The biggest thought in my head right now is that today is a free day for me. The grass is cut and the trimming done, even up at the barn. Not that there aren't a hundred thousand other things I could do, but I'm still feeling caught up for the first time in years.

I received the final edits to Small, Medium, & Large yesterday. After a few minor tweaks, I sent it off last evening. Another good feeling. Now if I could just hear from my Sourcebooks editor about Wildcat...

But that will happen eventually. In the meantime, here's a nice hunk for your Thursday enjoyment!

Whopping Weasel Wednesday!

Okay, ladies. Yesterday's hunk should have you primed and ready for this one. Whatcha wanna bet it gets a lot bigger with a little TLC?

Spent yesterday morning at my riding lesson. Hadn't been on a horse in two months. It went better than I thought it would, starting with being able to get on, which is usually my biggest challenge.

After that, I went and got my lawn tractor out of the shop. Turns out whatever was broke was under warranty. It only cost me $19.20 to get the blades sharpened. Cheapest I ever got out of that place before.

Anyway, the yard looks all nice and neat now. I've missed doing the mowing, yet another of those things I've had to delegate in recent years.

Speaking of mowing, today's hunk looks like he could use a trim. Any volunteers?

Tasty Tuesday Bahama Mama!

Hey gang! Spring has been with us a week, so I guess it's time to start thinking about summer and hanging out (HA!) at the pool. Donna is pretty sure this is the same guy as last week's Whopper. Still think it's fake? She sent me this recipe for you doubters, which is guaranteed to make you feel more, um, trusting....

Here's a  tasty Poolside drink recipe to go along with the Poolside hunk!

Bahama Mama

Ingredients
0.5 oz Rum
0.5 oz Malibu rum
1 oz Pineapple Juice
1 oz Orange Juice
0.5 oz Grenadine
Method: Prepare in a blender
Glass: Tulip

Monday Moons!

I love this picture. Awesome body with just the right amount of muscle. No distracting tattoos. Even the background matches him.

What more can I say? He's absolutely perfect.

Saturday's Hunk of the Day!

Nothing quite like a little hot, wet Benji to get your weekend off to a good start!

Enjoy your Saturday!

New Cover!

Finally got the cover for Small, Medium, & Large yesterday--only two weeks or so before the April 9th release date! I'll warn you ladies right now, this one is super hot and more than a little kinky. That being said, it's also a ton of fun!

Funny how when you tell the cover art folks that the guy on the left should look like Justin Long, the girl should be a young Meryl Streep, and the guy on the right is a giant-sized version of Chris Hemsworth, you get something like this. It's a mystery....

Next up, Donna sent me a picture yesterday that she is SURE is not photoshopped. In my own humble opinion, I think this fellow is worthy of a book cover!

Your thoughts?

I'm blogging on Casablanca Authors today. When you're finished here, come on over!

Thursday Thoughts

I'm really not sure I need to say anything here, other than this is my nectarine tree,

and this is what it's like to look up into the blooms on the weeping cherry. Neighbor Janet always comes over when it's in bloom. She says it's "spiritual" and I tend to agree. Be sure to click on it and see the closeup view.

This is kinda spiritual too!

Enjoy your Thursday!

Whopping Weasel Wednesday!

Is it any wonder he's hiding his face? If anyone knew what he was packing, they'd run!

I think you'd have to have an episiotomy to accommodate this one. I mean, it's not even hard yet. Wowza!

Tasty Tuesday Cooler Corn!

I'd never heard of this in my life until Donna sent it to me, but what a great idea!

Cooler Corn

Directions:

  1. Fill a clean cooler with the shucked ears of corn.
  2. Pour two kettles-full of boiling water over the corn.
  3. Close the top and allow it to sit for 30 minutes.
  4. The corn will remain at the perfect level of doneness for a couple of hours.
This will give you plenty of time to grill your burgers or boil your lobsters while you wait. Or take care of other necessary hostess duties, like making sure this fellow gets enough to eat...

Blooming Monday Moons!

Didn't get much writing done yesterday, but I did manage to get Mike & Sam's taxes done. I had to switch from my original intention to cut the grass when the lawn tractor refused to start. Hopefully, I'll have better luck today after I get some new parts. I did manage to get the trimmer going, so at least that job is done.

Even though I didn't get to mow, the scenery is still pretty nice. Bugsy and Peaches are enjoying the weather and seem to be delighted that I'm spending more time outside.

This is the tulip magnolia. Believe me, it smells every bit as good as it looks.

These blooming buns might not be as fragrant, but they are still quite lovely.

Enjoy your Monday!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Since nobody requested an Irish hunk, I'm posting one of my own choice.
This is an Irish Draught (pronounced "draft") stallion.

And he is, indeed, quite a hunk! You could even call him a STUD! :D big grin

I could be wrong, but I believe this fellow also has a bit of Irish in his bloodline.

He's even got a shamrock tattoo!

Have a great day!

It wouldn't surprise me if this was actually true one day. Too funny!

Thursday Thoughts

Ah, beware the ides of March! I can't believe the stuff that's already blooming around here. It's freakin' scary. I usually have some daffodils blooming by now, but nothing like this.

And this variety is so early and yet so sensitive to frost that it NEVER blooms, and yet, there it is.

The bloodroot  is even blooming, which usually doesn't happen until April.

Clearly, Punxsutawney Phil didn't know what he was talking about. I'm wondering if a mild winter and early spring mean we're going to have a horrendously hot, dry summer. Must Google that and see...

Okay. I'm back. I saw lots of discussions about how La Nina, the North Atlantic Oscillation, and the Arctic Oscillation have affected the weather. Basically, it will be wet and warm here in the Midwest with droughts in the South. Kinda like last year, except that La Nina is losing strength and we should be free of its effects by May. Then I guess we'll have a fairly normal summer after that. Too bad I can't remember what constitutes normal.  :-/ confused

I'm trying to figure out who to post for St. Patrick's Day. Does anyone have a favorite Irish hunk they'd like to see? Or should I just post the naked Leprechaun again?

Oh, BTW, I also found this growing out in the woods. Not sure if it's in season or not....

Whopping Weasel Wednesday!

I know this isn't the type of incredibly oversized and scary-looking whopper I normally post on a Wednesday, but when Sharon sent me these photos, I knew I had to get them up (pun intended) ASAP!

Now Ana, be sure you're sitting down and have your smelling salts handy. Scroll down very, very s-l-o-w-l-y. I don't want anyone to get hurt.

Not sure I like the hairstyle in this shot, but it has other sterling qualities to recommend it. Careful now, Ana. Take it nice and slow....

 Enjoy your Wednesday!

Friday Fun!

Just in case anyone was wondering, the zucchini killers are called Squash Vine Borers and can be controlled with insecticidal soap or pyrethrum spray.

I don't think this guy has that problem with his zucchini.

Thanks for the pics, Donna!

Thursday Thoughts

Ever since I began writing with the intention of making it a career, there have been things I've had to let slide. The house isn't as clean as it used to be. The yard doesn't look as good. My horses get fed and the barn gets cleaned, but that's about it. Although the horses haven't complained, the lack of attention shows. I used to clean out their hooves every day--sometimes twice--but a few years back, I quit doing that. At first, it wasn't a problem, but the change has been slow and insidious. I missed infections and other problems in the early stages when they could have easily been alleviated, and left unchecked, they've taken their toll. Granted, part of their chronic lameness is due to the weather--very wet springs and summer droughts--but other problems are simply due to neglect.

Now that I have more time, I'm working to change that, and I've already seen a difference. Kes has only been lame intermittently, but Jadzia has been gimping around for months. However, yesterday afternoon, they were out by the arena when I went to feed them, and they both galloped up to the barn. To call it a sight for sore eyes is an understatement. I was thrilled.

Other tiny tasks have gone undone. I've got three boxes of Miracle Grow sitting on the porch, but have I bothered to use it to feed any of the houseplants? Nope. They've been lucky to get watered. Amazingly, the poinsettia I bought last Christmas is still alive. Who knows what will happen when I start paying more attention to it. It might even grow full-sized leaves and bloom!

For the first time in years, I'll be putting out a garden and at least have the hope that I'll have the time to make it a success. Planting and tilling isn't the problem. It's the lack of proper maintenance, which is what a great many things around here have been missing.

Speaking of maintenance, I believe I have a hunk who needs washing. Please excuse me...

:D big grin

Whopping Weasel Wednesday!

Good news! Sourcebooks is actually going to reprint Warrior. I truly did not expect that. So, if anyone needs a copy, it should be available in a few weeks.

To celebrate, I thought we should go with a Warrior Weasel theme today. One moment while I check my files....

You know something? Warriors don't usually show us their weasels. It's really hard to find a good pic, but this one comes pretty close.

Doesn't look a bit like Leo, though. Does he?

Snowy Tuesday Gingerbread!

After all the spring flowers I've posted here lately, it seems pretty strange to have snow to report. I wasn't expecting it at all, but Sunday night, it freakin' snowed. However, in light of the recent bout of thunderstorms and devastating tornadoes, a gentle little snowfall wasn't necessarily a bad thing.

Still, if you look very closely at this next photograph, you can see a couple of robins out there in the snow under the pear tree.

Peaches and Bugsy seemed a bit baffled by it all, and I really can't blame them. One day we're out picking flowers and the next, we're leaving footprints in the snow.

What with all of this winter weather, I got the itch to bake some gingerbread. Interesting stuff, gingerbread. According to the King Arthur Flour cookbook (which is where I found this recipe), in the medieval days of merry old England, ginger and pepper were the only spices readily available. Therefore, gingerbread was the most popular sweet treat during holidays and festivals for at least a thousand years.

I guess times haven't changed all that much, because I had all the ingredients on hand except for the buttermilk. I substituted regular milk and it turned out fine. The sweeteners can also be varied according to taste and availability, just use 1 1/2 cups of whatever you have. You can also substitute corn or maple syrup for the molasses if you like.

So, preheat the oven to 350 degrees and get ready for an age-old treat!

Gingerbread

Ingredients:
3/4 stick of butter
1/2 cup molasses
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 egg
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp salt
3/4 cup buttermilk

Directions:
Cream the butter until light. Continue beating as you add sweeteners 1/2 cup at a time and then the egg. Beat until light and fluffy. Blend the dry ingredients together and add them to the butter mixture alternately with the milk. Pour into a greased  9 inch cake pan. Bake 45 minutes and enjoy with the medieval hunk of your choice!
