I forget just what site I was on when I found this one of Benji, but I was pretty sure you ladies would enjoy it. For my money, it's proof positive that he doesn't have to strip down to his undies to get your attention--or to say a word. He just has to give you that "look."
So how does that look translate into words? How can you describe it without using a picture? I think what you have to do is to focus on the reaction of the person looking into those arresting eyes, which is the tack I've taken in writing Renegade. I took that look, made him Zetithian, made him really tall, and made him (sorry Benji!) a virgin.
He's finally found a girl who does it for him, though, and he's got to woo her, but, never having paid much attention in "How To Entice A Female 101," he's clueless. I think the idea of a Zetithian man who doesn't know anything about women is sort of fun, particularly after the other guys who were all experienced in some way. This time, it's the girl who knows more than the guy, but she's wanting to go back to her old boyfriend, and it's our hero's job to make her change her mind, and his awkwardness is just part of his charm.
Of course, a tall Zetithian who looks like Benji shouldn't have much trouble doing that, should he? What are your thoughts?

Benji gets me every time. Every single freakin' time. Clothed, naked, whatever. There's something in his eyes. Something drawing you in. Something that makes you so very we...Ahem.

Cheryl--This is a perfect picture of your hero as you've described him---Benjy looks a little vulnerable, not aware how amazingly sexy he looks, not trying to overwhelm with macho or overt manliness, like he's unsure how to let the person know how much he'd like to touch and explore all the things he's not entirely sure about...but BOY OH BOY, would he LOVE TO LEARN!!! Benjy is believable as a virgin Zetithian---and they ought to use this picture of him for the cover!!
I plan to send a picture of Benji in when they ask me for a character description, but, unfortunately, my covers never show the guy's eyes! Just this once, I wish they would.
Love the picture...guess we both had eyes on our minds! I do love a pair of pretty eyes. The set-up for Renegade sounds excellent...I can't WAIT to see the education of our virgin Zetithian!!
This is a wonderful shot. And Suzy has a good eye. He's vulnernable. Not aware of his appeal.

It makes a old grown woman cry!!!! The idea for Renegade fits perfectly.

Cheryl, I think you should ask your publisher to make a slight change in the cover for 'Renegade'.
I think that the cover should show from just below pecs on up, INCLUDING the face, but have the face EXCEPT FOR HIS EYES obscured by hair [blowing in wind?].
After all, this is the renegade . . . the one who's different from all of his fellow Zetithians . . . . his cover should be different too.
This way, you get traditional cover, but with enough difference to keep things interesting!

OMG, I love the idea of the female lead being on "top" of things while the male is clueless! Of course that's normal here on good ole Earth, isn't it? lol Can't wait for this book to come out to add it to my collection of Cheryl Brooks books, they have a special spot on my bookshelf. Easy to reach.
