Our Sourcebooks Spotlight and book signing were quite successful. I had heard this particular story at the dinner last night, but since Deb repeated it at the SB Spotlight, I'll tell you now.
The sales rep for Sourcebooks, whose name is Shawn, I believe, was pitching Rogue to the Barnes and Noble buyer simplyt by laying the book down on the table in front of him and saying: "Meow!"
The book sold on that one word.
So, Dominique insisted that I write Meow! when I signed my books, and at one point, stood over my shoulder making sure that I did it! It was a lot of fun. I signed and gave away every one of my books and met some fun people.
Prior to the event, I took some pictures of a few Sourcebooks authors you may not know.
The first is Abigail Reynolds, who writes Pride and Prejudice sequels and who gave me the name of her agent, whom I just might call one of these days.
The next is Amelia Grey, who writes historicals.
The next is our romantic suspense writer, Lucinda McGary, pictured here with Danielle Jackson, our publicist.
The ceremony was fun and entertaining, but the best part happened afterward when we were leaving the ballroom and Marie pointed out Nora Roberts to her daughter. Emily, being the intrepid teen that she is, said "Congratulations, Nora!" Needless to say, a very shaky Marie took a picture of them together. I thing Marie really required sedation, but I let her enjoy the rush! You can't see it in this picture, but Nora was holding her Rita award behind Emily's back.
We ate some goodies and then I returned to my room where I am right now; blogging and getting ready for bed. This time tomorrow, I'll be back home in my own bed with my dear, sweet Budley. It's been fun, but I've missed my guys terribly!
*sigh* If only I had Cat and Jack to fly me home, I'd leave right now!

Well Cheryl at least you had a lot of fun there. And I'm sorry if I squealed a bit like a fangirl when I saw Nora. XD I've been reading her new Black Hills book ha ha.
You could definitely sell more books with that meow word :D

I'm at the airport wishing more than ever that I had Jack's number! This airport isn't quite as nice as the beautiful new one in Indy. Going to see Harry Potter with my guys tonight!
Meow to you too, Donna!
Hi girls!
I been biting my nails all week because my computer crashed and all my class homework was in it. Thank God I got it fixed today. So yep I’m back online and catching up with all that you girls have been up to.
Cheryl you did it!!! Sooo did you get arrested this time for inappropriate sexual conduct after the Tequila shots? It looks like Linda is not telling if it did happened again. lol!
It sounds like you had a great time and I love all the pictures. Everyone looks so pretty with their long dresses. Ooh by the way I got your letter in the mail today. Thank you so much I love them. Have a safe trip home.
This must be a week for computer crashes. Mine went on friday. My geek squad had to search and destroy viruses that spider web through everything. He said don't go on porn sights. Don't download new toolbars and don't click on anything you don't know. Careful what you download. Don't open foreign e-mails.
So let let Sharon get all the Men Pics.
lol! Yeah mine was full of viruses too.
Welcome home Cheryl! Glad you had a great time! You looked great all dressed up!
Computer problems...what a pain, huh? At least you had someone that could figure it out for you...the last time I had a virus I had to pay someone to do it. That was no fun!
Happy Sunday!
So Donna, are you saying it is OK for me to get viruses on my PC?
What fun it sounds like you had at the Nationals, Cheryl!
Prof. P. We got your attention: where have you been? Be careful on the sites you get the pictures. Those weasel viruses can get in and ruin your computer. My geek said the porn sites are the worst culprits.
I'm finally home! The Harry Potter movie was great, but I'm exhausted!
I thought I looked pretty good until I saw all the other ladies. Some of them really were dressed to kill!
Sorry you've all had so much computer trouble. I guess my DH has me better protected than I realize! So, Donna, did your geek tell you how to protect yourself from the nasty viruses other than by practicing abstinence?
Glad you've all gotten your goodies! You wouldn't believe the bag of books I came home from the conference with. I took a big zippered tote bag with me and stuffed it full of books and checked it in as luggage--and believe me, I really had to lug it!
I have better virus protection and firewalls. and have a geek squad clean it often.
