And now for something completely different. . . .

Here's a recipe I got from Sharon. I couldn't find any Mexican stewed tomatoes at my local super Walmart, so I got the diced tomatoes with green chilies, which is essentially the same thing. . . at least, I hope it is! But either way, it is still quite tasty! Thanks for the recipe, Sharon. Sorry there's no hunk to go with it. . . .

Sharon's Spanish Style Spaghetti

1 lb. lean ground beef
1/2 lb. bacon cut into 1" strips
1 small green pepper
1 small red pepper
1/2 medium onion, all chopped
1 T cooking oil
1 can Mexican style stewed tomatoes
1 pkg spaghetti
garlic salt and black pepper to taste

Boil spaghetti according to pkg’s directions.
Cook meat with bacon pieces in oil in a heavy skillet until browned.
Add veggies, garlic salt and pepper and cook until tender.
Pour in canned tomatoes and heat to a boil.
Drain spaghetti and pour meat mixture over spaghetti, toss if desired (recommended).
Serve with Texas Garlic Bread slices and tossed green salad for a great, hearty meal.
You can substitute whole wheat spaghetti for fewer carbs.

I'll be blogging on Casablanca Authors tomorrow. If I can think of anything to write. . . .

PS: Ana got her copy of Outcast already. Yay!!!!

Ana,
YOU LUCKY DOG!!!!
Thanks Sharon for recipe.
I'm surprised you had Hamburger. Not LARGE SAUSAGE. LOL!!!!
I'm always looking for new spaghetti recipes. RG loves Spagetti.
So it has no other sauce? Just tomatoes. How big of a can of tomatoes?

Hi Donna,
I used two ten oz cans of the diced tomatoes and chilies since the stewed tomato cans were about 14 oz, if I remember correctly. It was very good!

Remember what I said about needing to stay away from the Internet? Well, the fact is, I can't do it! I miss you all too much! I'll try to keep on blogging!

I just got back from my small town IGA, and wouldn't you know it, they had Mexican stewed tomatoes. Just goes to show that Walmart doesn't have everything!

Oh, I love anything with noodles! Looks good!

Cheryl, I saw your post the other day about trying to close your browser and not get on the blogs. It's so hard isn't it?! I get nothing done around the house and then my husband gets home and just gives me the look. I lack any discipline where my books and my computer are concerned. It's just too much fun!

:)Lisa

PS: Hey Donna, I'm jealous of Ana too!

Lisa,
Yes, it is hard, isn't it? It's amazing how much time passes, too. I just have to limit how much time I spend, but that's difficult, too!

I check this blog every day almost every hour. I'm not going to spoil anything but Outcast is sad and amazing so far. I'm on page 57 XD

Cheryl Brooks said...

Ana,
I try to check it at least three times a day when I'm at home, but when I'm working, I can only do it twice. Then there are those times when I seem to be checking it constantly... like right now while you're reading my new book! Can you sense my anxiety?????!!!!

Sharon said...

Cheryl, you are not the only one here that is anxious. Ana, I'm jealous. Amazon is showing an approximate 6/6 deliver date for my pre-ordered copy of Outcast.

Sharon said...

Now Donna, what would make you think I would use LARGE SAUSAGE?

Cheryl Brooks said...

Hi Sharon,
The good news is that they have it in stock, so that 6/6 delivery date may come sooner than you think!
LOL! Large sausage... you guys just kill me....

Large sausage on a plate with honey please!
