The First Day of Spring!!!! Really???

It's here. I've seen it. At least, I think I did. It's gotten chilly again since the nice days we had earlier in the week, so I'm glad I took pictures to prove it. I do remember that my hands were dirty after I planted the pansies. I love pansies. When you see them for sale, you know it won't be long before you're planting some of the more delicate varieties. It's hard to wait until May to plant them, though. Of course, it gives me something to have the guys get me for Mother's Day every year.

I got out a bit on Wednesday and picked up all the fallen branches in the yard--which is huge and quite woodsy. All the ice and snow this winter was accompanied by some very strong winds which made quite a mess. There are trees down in the woods, and a few have fallen near the yard. Guess I'll fire up the chainsaw at some point, but I'm not quite ready for that yet. Maybe I can get Budley to do it.

I look forward to spring each year, but the clean-up of winter isn't much fun, even though it does get me out of the house. The grass in April is what I look forward to the most. The color and the scent after it's mowed for the first time are unbelievable. Don't know if the lilacs will bloom this year or not, which is another scent I crave. We had one late freeze that might have ruined them, but only time will tell. Nothing I can do about it now. Time and Mother Nature march on. . .

You can take off your coats now, boys!

Big Bad Hunky dude in Shades and Hood. I think we'll send Ana in to inspect this one. He looks like he could be packing some heat?
Ana you know the drill. Do you have your disguise ready? This one you must do undercovers.
And Cheryl that's such pretty Pansies in the pot. And your Daffodils are beautiful. It's way to early here for my flowers. But this gives me a early peek of what's to come. I walked throught the gardens yesterday. And looked around. What a dirty mess right now. Big sticks everywhere I love my lilacs too. Mine are white. And if Kendra stops by. I must tell her. I have one GREAT big Crab Apple tree outside the North east corner of the house and a big Plum tree. They bloom like crazy. And more fruit than I can keep up with. Crabapple jam is pretty good. I'm real happy about her new apple trees. We've been in this place over 36 years this April. I hope she can stay put and enjoy the new house for a long time.

My roses are just starting to send out a few tiny little leaf buds, but there will be better things to come!
I prefer them them pantless, too, Ana!

You're lucky to have fruit, Donna. Around here, everything but the apples just rot on the trees. I've tried spraying them, but it doesn't do any good. They're very pretty when they bloom, though.

My, Marie, how poetic! Enjoy the day--and the pecs and pansies!

*wanders in trailing water from soaking with Jason Isaacs*

Morning, ladies! I like the view over here...it's definitely time for Summer Boys. Beautiful flowers, Cheryl...the trees here are beginning to bud, and I'm looking forward to seeing it. Apparently, Spring comes right about on time here in Maryland. No trees to leave a Fall mess behind yet...we're in the middle of what was once a farm field. That does mean field mice, though. Found a dead one in the garage the other day. EW. Hopefully my cat will keep them out of the basement...he's really enjoying it down there for whatever reason.

Hi Donna! Thanks, I'm looking forward to planting those trees when they arrive. I ordered them from back home (Northern NY), supposed to be one of the best places to get apple trees, and they'll be hardy after a few winters growing there already. Never tried crabapple jelly, but if that particular tree lives, I should have a chance to! 36 years in a house...now that really is a home, sounds lovely:-)

Hope your lilacs made it, Cheryl. They're one of my favorite flowers. I'm planting one of those too!

Ana,
Well, You'll just have to wear your Shades. Just Go and check out those Pecs. Run your hands up and down and all over and check for hidden weapons.
Disarm or disrobe him if you have to.
This is your assignment if you wish to accept it. Are you willing?

Was Jason a good boy, Kendra?
I have three lilacs, and so far, I think they're okay. The weeping cherry is just about to bloom. I'll post a picture of it later on. It's "spiritual" according to my neighbor the shaman...
Enjoy the spring!

Ana and Donna,
I think you'd need to be armed to the teeth to get near this boy. He looks like a naughty one!

*evil laughter*
It depends on what your definition of "good" is.

Well, Cheryl,
I hope Ana has a adventuous streak.

As Tim McGraw sings: I'm a bad bad boy!!! But I'm a good good man.

I'm married to a good good man who was a bad bad boy.
It's always a adventure.

I'm willing to do it for the team! But we need to spray him down with water first. Ooh...I just imagined him soaked. Ahh....*Drools*
